This enacted UCC bill offers uniform guidelines for marriage, divorce, property inheritance, and cohabitation for all Uttarakhand inhabitants (except the Scheduled Tribes), irrespective of their spiritual or religious beliefs. The UCC aims to replace individual personal codes of each faith with a focus on marriage, divorce, adoption and inheritance according to the Directive Principle of State Policy under Article 44 of the Indian Constitution.
